What is a meetup you ask? The general idea is one of community. It facilitates a way for people of common interests to come together, share ideas, network, and have fun doing it. These principles represent core values here at Bronto. With continued growth in our space here at American Tobacco Campus, we have welcomed the greater community to share in it.
This post highlights many of those groups that are working to help make a difference in the Triangle through education.
Triangle Hadoop Users Group (TriHUG)
Organizers: Grant Ingersoll, Jeff Turner
One of the longest running meetups here at Bronto. They focus on discussing and promoting distributed computing and Hadoop-related technologies. A range of topics with speakers, including Doug Cutting of Cloudera, Paul Kent of SAS, and IBM Watson team lead John Gerken.
Organizers: Doug Hairfield, Magnus Hedemark, Mark Imbriaco, Nathan Walls
A group with organized representation from two Brontos (Doug and Magnus), they focus on merging the concepts of development and operations. Past speakers have included notable author/engineer Henry Petroski, Aaron Huslage of Docker, and DevOps pioneer John Willis.
Triangle Testing and Automation User Group (TriTAUG)
Organizers: Daniel Khodaparast, Melissa Crosby
Headed up by two Brontos, TriTAUG works to bring together people that have an interest in testing and automated processes. Daniel Tolbert of Bandwidth.com and Paul Merrill of Beaufort Fairmont have been welcomed speakers.

Girl Develop It
Organizers: Julia Elman, Sarah Kahn, Sylvia, Melissa Eggleston

This is a new meetup group that focuses on promoting the education and advancement of women in the Triangle python community. They will be utilizing a combination of instruction, outreach, conferences, and social events to further their mentoring.
Triangle Information Systems Quality Association (TISQA)
Organizers: Marjie Danckert, Adriene Gamble, Cheryl Klein, Greg Johnson, Laric Copes, Reggie Roberts, Sue-Leigh
The Triangle’s oldest and most prolific organization dedicated to Quality Assurance. They strive to promote quality through meetings, conferences, and education. Notable speakers include Certified Scrum Coach and Product Owner Bob Galen, as well as Mary Thorn, the Director of QA at ChannelAdvisor.

We’re excited to host this group starting in 2015! Founded in Philadelphia, they work to inspire an early interest of technology in the lives of middle-school girls.
