After 23 hours in flight, I finally touched down in Sydney, Australia! As part of a global training effort, Bronto has sent me on assignment down under. For the next seven weeks, I will work closely with our team here to ensure that we are providing top-notch service to our customers in this region. As it had been raining for weeks in Durham, I was very excited to see the summer sunshine when I arrived.
Bronto’s Australian office recently relocated to the CBD, which really is in the heart of Sydney. Within a minute’s walk, I am able to enjoy the quaintest coffee shops, world-class restaurants and pubs, shopping and, of course, famous Sydney tourist sites. It is such a nice change of pace to walk 10 minutes to work instead of sitting in traffic on I-40. And I don’t see grabbing lunch with the view of the Sydney Opera House ever getting old.
The streets of the CBD are very busy, filled with professionals and tourists alike. Just last week, I took a walk for lunch and came upon a large group of people cheering and waving. To my surprise, Prince Charles and Camilla were in town and parading down the street next to the office! Bucket list checked!
The Brontos in the Sydney office have been very welcoming and accommodating, showing me the ropes around the office, where to get the best coffee and, of course, the best beer! Last Friday, I attended my first Australian Occupy (Bronto’s way of kicking back at the end of the week), which included some very competitive rounds of foosball.
Trash-talking aside, it was a fun way to close out my first week in the office. I think I will fit in nicely down here! Cheers!
