WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Video courtesy of WWE You might think that’s an over-the-top way to describe conference rooms. But these aren’t your typical conference rooms. Nope, these are Bronto conference rooms. And they’re named after professional wrestlers. The aforementioned Ric Flair®? Yep, he’s there. So are “Macho Man” Randy Savage™, Ultimate Warrior™ … But wait, we’re getting ahead of ourselves. First, we’ll back up and answer the obvious question: Why in the heck does Bronto have conference rooms named after pro wrestlers? The obvious answer is, of course, “Because, Bronto.” But we’ll give you a bit of backstory as well. It all started when Bronto added over 40,000 square feet of space back in August, 2014 and moved our engineering and product teams into the new offices, which overlook the Durham Baseball Athletic Park. The engineers decided to name the conference rooms in their new digs after local breweries – everything from Lonerider to Ponysaurus to Mystery – and even organized a Bronto brewery crawl to visit a number of them in person. It was a great idea, which sparked a movement to give new names to the conference rooms in our original space. Brontos threw out numerous ideas in a lengthy email thread – funny North Carolina towns, local attractions, superhero lairs, North Carolina musicians, rooms from the game Clue®, and on it went … Two weeks later, it was decided that the rooms would be named after pro wrestlers. It was a decision shrouded in mystery and controversy, not unlike a disputed heavyweight title match. But once the choice was made, the suggested wrestler names poured in. Eventually, our fearless leader Joe Colopy – with help from subject matter expert Kevin Thornton – selected the names. Some of the Highlights The biggest conference room is “Giant,” after Andre, naturally. Flair got the “Nature Boy™” room, right next to Dusty Rhodes’ “American Dream™” room. G.L.O.W.™ is proudly represented by Hollywood and Vine in rooms 9 and 10. Admittedly, the initial transition was, a little bumpy. Phrases such as “I have a meeting in Macho Man, where is that?” were pretty common for the first few weeks, but we all eventually got the hang of things. The final touches were recently added to each room, including lengthy bios for the walls. And they now stand as the undisputed champions of conference rooms … Ooooooooh yeah. DIG IT!!!!
