Dear Internet Retailer,

What email(s) do you have going out this week?

If you’re not sending anything, you’re missing out on a big opportunity. Ignoring the fact that there are only about 5 weeks (!) left until the holiday season is over, this week is CRITICAL for getting in the holiday gift-buying game.

Some folks may already be finishing up their holiday shopping. Some are just starting. Regardless, you want to make sure they are considering your products/offerings this holiday season before the purse strings are tied up.

And when will you be sending?

Are you trying to be heard on Black Friday or sending an email first thing on Cyber Monday? There will be a lot of email noise at that time.

Consider running a weekend-long deal (or even a week-long deal) so that you don’t get lost in the shuffle. A longer promotion can enable you to mail your subscribers outside of the peak email volume next weekend and give them days of opportunity to act on your offer (either in-store or online) – and maybe even give you an edge on your competitors.

Don’t forget to reiterate your precious deadlines, though, as they help to create a sense of urgency and spur action. And highly consider sending reminders about these deadlines. There will be so much email out there, you can easily be overlooked.

If you don’t have anything planned at this point nor deep resource pockets, keep your promo simple. Offer a straight discount or free shipping in a simple email format. Encourage your readers to share with their friends and family.

Good luck and get going!

xo,
Kristen Gregory
