Shop.org: Day 2 - Trek and Hancocks of Paducah close out the summit

September 20th, 2007 by DJ Waldow

Not only did we spread the Bronto love, Joe also led an hour-long panel discussion the Six Keys to Email Marketing Success. Joe was joined by two Bronto clients, brothers Justin and Blann Hancock of Hancock’s of Paducah as well as Casey Kohner of Trek Bicycles. With over 75 participants, this workshop was one of the most highly attended of all breakout sessions this year. The Shop.org folks were very impressed. They commented that this number was especially high considering this was the last session on the last day of the summit.

Casey, Blann and Justin did a wonderful job sharing information with the audience about the six keys to email marketing success:

  1. Permission
  2. Deliverability
  3. Segmentation
  4. Relevance
  5. Frequency
  6. Measurement

They discussed the various ways each of the six points above factors into their highly successful (and profitable) email marketing campaigns. Not only did our clients represent, Joe also kept the conversation interesting and on point for 45 minutes. On a side note, it was hard to recognize Joe without his signature attire - white shirt and jeans. Sean and I listened in and spoke with several prospects after the hour was up. Kudos and thanks to all involved in this effort (including Bronto Marketing).

Stay tuned for the Shop.org Summary post, coming soon…

Shop.org: Day 1 - Traveling Brontos

September 19th, 2007 by DJ Waldow

As Bronto rolls into Day 2 of Shop.org, we have three concurrent contests pending.

  1. The Best Odds You’ll Get: Attendees can win a 37″ Widescreen HDTV by dropping their business card into the fish bowl - over 100 cards 10 hours into the show.
  2. Most creative Vegas traveling Bronto picture wins a $100 gift certificate (Brad Matthews is covering expenses. Thanks Brad!) As a team, we have distributed well over 100 traveling Brontos. People (exhibitors and attendees) have been stopping by our booth on a regular basis - “Where can I get one of those Bronto things?” was overheard dozens of time throughout the day.
  3. One Traveling Bronto in Every Booth Campaign: I have successfully hit the milestone of 20 booths with “traveling Bronto” presence. This means an INFLATED, VISIBLE, traveling Bronto in your booth! This number of 20 represents 2 Canadian companies as well nearly 18 “others” including Google, Range, BaazarVoice, Jellyfish.com, and Americaneagle.com (Jerry! Jerry!). I have an 8-hour day to complete my mission!

I can confidently say that we will accomplish #1 and #2; however, #3 (while ambitious) gets me very excited. Going forward, I will need to step it up from 7:30AM until 4:30PM. Fun times.

Look for installment #4 on Thursday morning.

8AM PST: Update: 21, 22…

2:33PM PST: Update: 23…24…27!

Shop.org: Day 0 - Brontos everywhere

September 18th, 2007 by DJ Waldow

2 hours of “Booth Set up” (see pics below); 10 minutes of ironing new Bronto shirts; 3 hours of working the expo; 2 hours of dinner with the Bronto Team. That pretty much sums up Day 0 at Shop.org, Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas. A few key takeaways (in no particular order)…

  1. It’s good to be among our email colleagues - had conversations with several other ESPs (Email Service Providers), prospects, and potential partners and was glad to be in conversations with our colleagues in the business. We all benefit by sharing ideas and working together to improve the practices of email marketing.
  2. Traveling Brontos are a hot commodity - Thanks to Brad, Bronto will be giving away a $100 gift card to the attendee that emails us the best inflatable Bronto Vegas picture. My goal: one Bronto in every booth by the end of the day Wednesday.
  3. Most exhibitors are very friendly and approachable - I met some very nice folks from Google, Jellyfish, Hacker Safe, Channel Advisor, WebTrends, and Range Online Media to name a few.
  4. Trade Shows are a small world - I bumped into a guy from Portland who is cousins with a guy I used to work with in Rochester, NY during high school. Also saw a girl I knew from U of Michigan who now owns her own boutique clothing store…and, of course, is in the market for a new ESP.
  5. Spending time with co-workers is invaluable - Dinner at the House of Blues with Joe (CEO/Co-Founder), Ken (Dir of Product Management), Brad (Sales), and Sean (Sales) was a very enlightening experience. Five guys sitting in a booth discussing Bronto, the current state of email marketing, and how we plan to dominate the world…

Day One opens up at 7:30 AM PST Tuesday. Seeing as it is after 1AM PST, it is probably time to catch a few.

Bloggin’ from Vegas: SHOP.org - September 17-19

September 13th, 2007 by DJ Waldow

Usually, “What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas.” On September 17-19, Bronto will be breaking this unwritten rule. We are sending a team of 5 Brontos (Joe, Ken, Brad Matt, Sean, and DJ) to shop.org’s Annual Summit.

Bronto’s very own - CEO Joe Colopy - will be facilitating a panel of clients on a discussion titled the “Six Keys to Email Marketing Success: Proven Methods to Achieve Your Sales Targets.”

Also, yours truly will be blogging live from the Luxor. Tune in next week for the scoop on Online Retail, Email Marketing, and…Vegas!
