Brontopedia

Bronto recently launched Brontopedia - an internal wiki designed to facilitate online collaboration and document management.

We kicked off the program with an MTV-esque “Pimp My Page” contest in which all Bronto employees “pimped” their user page in the style of a MySpace or Facebook profile. Some built pages with funny pictures, quotes, and “statistics” - such as “Consecutive Days Wearing Same Blue Jeans: 5″ - while others flooded their page with various RSS feeds from del.icio.us, YouTube, and NetFlix.

The individuals with the top 3 pages according to a team vote took home handsome cash prizes. The winners were:

1st place: Thad Parker - Director of Engineering. Thad hilariously lampooned Matt Williamson, Bronto’s Director of Sales.

2nd place: Matt Habel - Software Engineer. From Habel’s page - “They were going to release a Chuck Norris edition of Clue, but the
answer always turns out to be “Chuck Norris. In The Library. With a
Roundhouse Kick.”

3rd place: Haley Robinson - Finance Associate. Haley developed an elaborate point system for executing various office shenanigans. For example, you get 5 points for hiding Adam’s Texas Pete in his work drawer.

The winners, from left, Habel, Thad, and Haley.

The individual that created the “worst” page - according to each voter’s interpretation of what comprises a “bad” wiki user page - took home an extra week of kitchen duty.

The loser: DJ Waldow - Senior Account Manager. While very funny, DJ’s page lost because it trashed everyone else’s.

When asked about his ignominious defeat, DJ replied “I got jobbed.”

As one of his customers, I feel entitled to receive a screenshot of DJ’s page!
